It was great to see so many students and colleagues at the Rally for Rai$es last Wednesday! Students, librarians, and faculty stood shoulder to shoulder to demand fair raises and a fair contract for faculty.
In the wake of the rally, we made significant movement toward reaching an agreement for faculty on Friday. We are down to focusing on compensation, health benefits, and a few technical matters involving the protection of members’ rights, and we are very close to agreement on health benefits as well as on most non-economic matters. We hope to make even more progress at our next bargaining session on Tuesday, September 29th (Demske 110). Let’s PACK THE ROOM and show management we mean business.
We are continuing to fight because it’s the only way to get management to offer fair raises, job protections, and benefits. That’s also why union popularity is sharply increasing, with 71% of people in the U.S. approving of unions, continuing the highest period of favorability in over 60 years, according to a recent Gallup poll.
Come out on the 29th and fight for what you and your colleagues are worth!
