In the wake of national attention to Miami’s extreme reaction to our planned Labor Day Teach-OUT, we made some progress on non-economic issues and forced the University to make one substantive concession on economics.
FAM and management are mostly aligned on non-economic articles at this point, with important exceptions in Faculty Evaluations (where they want to limit our ability to enforce the contract) and Artificial Intelligence (where we are still insisting that they can’t evaluate us with AI).
On economics, we’ve had some productive discussions in the last two sessions regarding both Compensation and Benefits, and today management made some movement on summer pay schedules (language we won as a result of our June ULP on summer pay) and on health insurance premiums.
No movement was made at the table today on annual wage increases, and given what fact-finders are recommending for comparable institutions, we are holding firm until we get the University closer to our position that we are worth more.
We bargain next on Friday, September 18 and hope to see big movement that day at the table! In order to help us get that movement, we need you to:
- Come out to our Rally for Rai$es on Wednesday, September 16 at noon near the Seal!
- Join our September bargaining sessions (Friday the 18th and Tuesday the 29th), and especially help us to pack the room on Tuesday, September 29!
Winning a good contract is always a fight. Let’s fight, and let’s win what we deserve! 💪🏽
