We hope to see you at today’s General Membership Meeting, 11:30am in Hamilton (Wilks Seminar 2) and on Zoom! At member meetings, you can hear the inside scoop about bargaining and get your questions answered. Meetings are open to members only.
It’s no secret that the salary gap between workers and CEOs has grown enormously over the past several decades, and at institutions of higher education, administrative bloat and excessive pay is eating up more and more of the money that should go to faculty and librarian salaries and raises. At Miami, where our top-quality teaching is consistently recognized, our raises are not keeping up with inflation, while President Crawford and other administrators consistently receive pay raises, enormous bonuses, and other perks on top of their already-bloated salaries.
Here’s who is holding up the contract and what they earn:
- President Crawford’s 2025-2026 salary: $589,505 (and the BoT just voted to give him a 3% raise and another 30% annual bonus on top of that)
- Finance VP Creamer’s 2025 salary: $450,292
- General Counsel Shoemaker’s salary: $308,797
Since 2012, David Creamer’s salary alone has increased by 43.1%. Has your salary increased that much?
Miami’s top-quality faculty deserve to be paid fairly and deserve to see a share of the university’s massive wealth. That’s why we have not reached agreement with management yet over our second contract. They are still offering us 2.5% raises in 2027 and 2028, which is not acceptable given inflation, the cost of living, and management’s salaries, bonuses, and increases.
We bargained again over the faculty contract on Friday, and made some progress at the table — but not enough in Compensation to satisfy our members. We aligned with management on some of the Benefits language, got them to increase their offer for the ratification bonus, and got them to increase their 2028 raise offer by .25% to 2.50%. That’s not enough, but it is progress. Thanks to those of you who showed up and pressured them to move on their numbers!
We bargain again next Wednesday, October 14th! Show up and show management that we will fight for what we deserve.
Member pressure is our path to strong raises. Not yet a member? Join the FAM (faculty / librarian) today! Questions? Want more details? Reach out to us at info@famiami.org.
