Welcome Back, FAM!

Colleagues, 

Welcome back, FAM! We’ve had a fabulous summer and hope you have, too! Since winning back-to-back elections in May and June, we’ve been hard at work building our Bargaining Council, curating our Negotiating Team, developing our bargaining platform, and writing proposals that will improve working conditions for faculty and librarians at Miami. 

We know faculty and librarians are concerned about shared governance, raises, and more. We can only share so much by email, so your liaison is a great resource for getting your questions about the bargaining phase answered.

Here’s what’s happening now:

• Come to our first bargaining session to find out about FAM’s proposals and the university’s responses. Show solidarity and hold the administration accountable! Our first session is scheduled for August 30 beginning at 9:00 am and lasting the day (location TBA soon)! Come anytime and stay as long as you can. RSVP here. 

• FAM is all of us. If you’re not yet a member, fill out this quick form to join the FAM! Strong membership shows our strength and solidarity, leading to a better contract. FAM members are eligible to vote on our bargaining platform, ratify our contract, and elect officers. 

• Mark your calendars for the FAM WHAM!, our 80s-themed opening bash, Friday, September 15 @6:00 pm in the pavilion at Oxford Uptown, and the FAM HAM WHAM!, Friday, September 29 @6:00 pm at Hamilton’s Urban Backyard in Hamilton!

We’d also love for you to get involved! There are lots of ways, from joining our visiting faculty organizing team to being your department’s liaison. Fill out this survey to tell us what you’re interested in!
