FAM-T Bargaining, Day 15

Miami University is in very strong financial condition.” That was the conclusion heard by more than 60 FAM faculty who came out to hear university finance expert Howard Bunsis’s presentation on Miami’s finances. His conclusion was “supported by Miami’s solid reserves and cash flows, modest debt levels, and increasing state support.” Click here for highlights and a link to the full slide presentation.

After the Bunsis presentation, FAM and management each shared multiple counter-proposals. View them here (scroll down for Proposal Status Tracker). Of special interest is our Faculty Evaluations counter, which protects faculty against bias in student evaluations and provides clarity about how TCPL faculty are evaluated. Most importantly, we rejected management’s overreaching post-tenure review provision, a completely unnecessary and egregious notion that has no place in our contract.

FAM-T has now passed across ALL of our proposals, and we are waiting patiently for management to respond.
