FAM's negotiating team gathered in red FAM tees, fists raised in victory.

FAM-T Bargaining, Day 17

FAM-T had a great session at the negotiating table today. Our biggest win was being recognized as a university group to use campus facilities. Management has pushed back against this effort for months, but we won! The union is not a third party—it’s us.

Our wins today were fueled by our recent organizing actions at Monday’s Budget Symposium and the AAUP National Day of Action for Higher Education on April 17.

We had other wins today as well. FAM and management, after multiple counter proposals, came to agreement on Union Access to Information and Facilities; Health, Safety, and Security; and Facilities and Support — all signed at the close of business. We’re also excited about our new proposal on Artificial Intelligence, which would allow FAM to work with the university on codifying AI policy and practice.

FAM continues to push management on its dismal compensation proposal, which provides faculty with only 1.25% annual raise and which lowers promotional increases to just $5,000 at every level.

Read proposals and get information on their current status in our Bargaining Tracker.

Try out our NEW pay calculators to find out how FAM’s compensation proposal compares to management’s in its real impact on your salary! Let’s continue to fight for what we deserve. As management’s attorney said today, the university should want “to take care of your most important resource, your people.”
