We’re fighting for fair pay and transparency in the promotion system!
Today was a red-hot day at the FAM-L table: we passed across no fewer than six counter-proposals on key priorities: Compensation; Librarian Promotion, Continuing Contract, and Evaluation; Librarian Ranks; Personnel Committee; and Salary Adjustment Studies.
On compensation, we are working hard to ensure that you are paid fairly and equitably, with regular annual increases and clear salary minimums. We also want to conduct equity and job market studies to help identify and rectify inequities. Our team will not back down from this and made it clear to Management: we are taking these negotiations seriously and we expect the same from them.
We are fighting to protect librarian’s job security, working to clarify the promotion system and make it more transparent. Our proposals related to our librarians’ Promotion, Continuing Contract, and Evaluation system improves the current system used by librarians whereas Management’s proposal creates confusion in the name of “streamlining.”
For their part, management presented counter-proposals on Personnel Committee (which we immediately countered in the afternoon) and Management Rights. Whereas our team presented six key articles, including one turned around on the same day, management was only prepared to present two. Management wants to delay; FAM wants to move forward.
We invite you to read all proposals in full at our website!
