100+ faculty and librarians in red shirts packed the Board of Trustees meeting this morning on our 471st day of negotiations with the University.

FAM-L Bargaining, Day 27

After a rousing collective action at the Board of Trustees in the morning, at which 100+ FAM librarians and faculty demanded FAIR RAISES NOW and hand-delivered holiday cards to the Trustees, FAM-L came through with three more Tentative Agreements in addition to the four from last session:

  • Scope of Duties: Recognizes that librarians should work a forty-hour week with provisions for time-shifting when needed.
  • Sick Leave: Assures flexibility should a member exhaust their sick leave and provides for new flexibility on bereavement leave.
  • Probationary Period: Provides greater predictability in scheduled dates, allows members to apply early for promotion, and gives an option to apply time in similar positions toward promotion.

We also passed across a new package counter on Compensation and Professional Development and Reimbursement for Travel. This moves us closer to agreement while pushing forward with our priorities.

You can read all proposals in full at our website!

Seven TAs this week: this powerful progress is due to YOUR visible action at today’s events and our other recent actions. We will keep the pressure on over break and into the new year until this contract is complete. Librarians and faculty deserve fair raises and a fair contract now!
