After 545 days of bargaining, we are excited to announce that we have closed our first FAM-L contract by reaching tentative agreements on Compensation, Professional Development, Benefits, and Duration. Librarians will receive a 7.69% raise for the three-year period from July 1, 2023 to July 1, 2026,, with potential for more should the Board of Trustees approve a higher amount for 2025-2026, plus a lump sum payment. You can calculate your new raise using our Pay Calculator!
Throughout this process, we have secured a number of wins, including:
- A 40-hour work week with methods of correcting chronic overwork
- Winter Closure days without having to take vacation time
- Illustrative criteria for promotion and continuing contract
- Guidance on what is necessary for promotion to Principal Librarian
- Greater flexibility with how professional development funds may be used
- Ability to hold Management accountable with ways to correct workplace disputes
We will share more details about the contract, as well as instructions on the ratification process, over the next few days. We are holding 🚨emergency🚨 FAM membership meetings next Monday, March 3rd at 9:30am and next Tuesday, March 4th at 5:00pm. Both meetings are open to all FAM members and will take place in King Library 320 and on Zoom. RSVP here!
We will explain our new contract highlights, as well as the timeline for the ratification process and other next steps. We will also answer your questions! (You must be a member to vote to ratify the contract. Join today!)
This contract was hard fought, but we have our first contract! In spite of every delay and impediment from Management, we have secured a contract that will serve as a solid foundation to build on for decades to come.
