FAM Statement: End the War on Iran

The Faculty Alliance of Miami calls for an end to the War on Iran. In just a few short days this attack has led to broader conflict across the Middle East and claimed the lives of civilians—including students—and soldiers. The history of US regime change is a history of false promises, failed states, and forever wars, and the Iranian people have the right to continue building domestic resistance movements—including labor unions—and to live, learn, and work free from the added threat of foreign bombs and missiles.

We call on Congress to assert its Constitutional authority and restrain President Trump. For decades, American presidents have flouted Congress in making war, and ordinary people have paid the price. As a union, we believe in the power of ordinary working people to make change. It is time to demand a new foreign policy grounded in international cooperation and the rule of law.
