FAM and Miami students march to Roudebush Hall to demand a FAIR CONTRACT NOW

FAM-L Bargaining, Day 2

First off, thanks to all of the librarians, faculty, and students who joined us this morning for our rousing Informational Picket and Rally! Check out the stunning video coverage in today’s Miami Student! And follow @famiamioh on Instagram, BlueSky, and Facebook for more photos and videos.

On to librarian negotiations! Today was a mad productive day at the librarian bargaining table! We signed no less than five Tentative Agreements:

  • Labor-Management Meetings
  • Promotion and Continuing Contract
  • Appointment Notices
  • Scope of Librarian Duties and Working Conditions
  • Union Access to Information and Facilities

We also passed across counter-proposals on Association Rights and Health, Safety, & Security.

Management rejected our Sick Leave proposal, holding to their position that bereavement leave is covered by existing Sick Leave language and policy, and passed across seven counter-proposals:

  • Article 10 Appointment Notices
  • Article 12 Scope of Librarian Duties and Working Conditions
  • Article 15 Annual Evaluations
  • Article 20 Professional Improvement Leaves
  • Article 23 Individual and Departmental Purchasing Cards
  • Article 26 Credit-Bearing Courses
  • Article 30 Union Access to Information and Facilities

We are fighting alongside our members to improve Miami for all librarians, faculty, and students!  You can help us make progress on both the librarian and faculty contracts:

  • Come to our other April bargaining sessions:
    • FAM-T (faculty): April 17, 23, and 24 (Demske 110)
    • FAM-L (librarians): April 22, and 29 (Demske 110)
  • Join walkarounds to talk to your colleagues about why this contract matters!
  • Save the date for our upcoming First Friday with the Ohio Student Association (OSA): May 1! Students + FAM are taking action along with students around the state and nation on May 1st. Let’s demand an education system that works for us and a fair contract now for librarians and faculty!

When we fight, we win. Reach out to info@famiami.org to join or get involved!
