Faculty flexed our power at today’s Power Lunch 💲💪🏽! Dozens more attended on Zoom, putting management on notice: we are willing to fight for fair raises and benefits for our members. And we’re not backing down.
Today at faculty bargaining, we once again traded two major packages, with a total of three table sessions.
In the first table session, management made zero movement on Compensation or Benefits but backed down on some of their more aggressive language limiting our right to enforce the contract. For our part, we moved closer to agreement with management on the non-economic articles, including Faculty Evaluations and Performance Improvement Plans.
In the second table session, FAM reduced our second-year raise proposal from 4.25% to 4.00%, for a total annual wage increase proposal of 4.25%-4%-3.75%. While we did move slightly closer to management’s position on raises (3%-2.5%-2%), we also firmly stated at the table that area contracts have been settled far higher than their current offer. We also made slight movement on Benefits, allowing management to increase health insurance premiums by up to 4% annually but still powerfully limiting their ability to raise our members’ healthcare costs.
Finally, in the third table session, we presented a non-economic package counter that included an article on Performance Improvement Plans that is just one word different from management’s. We hope to reach agreement on that article soon.

We need you to put pressure on management so that we can close this faculty contract once and for all (and win strong benefits for all employees at the University). We’ve seen numerous times that management backs down ⬇️ when faculty show up ⬆️!
