Based on feedback from faculty and librarians. endorsed by FAM’s Bargaining Council and unanimously approved in a vote by FAM membership, the following are FAM’s priorities for negotiation:
Fair and Equitable Pay and Benefits

- Preserved health benefits
- Fairness for marginalized faculty and librarians
- Fair Workloads
- Transparency about how workloads are decided and evaluated
- Recognition and compensation for work exceeding job description
- Greater workload equity
Job Security and Due Process
- Transparency in evaluation and promotion guidelines for every category and rank
- Research-informed use of student course evaluations
- Due process protections
Preserving Miami’s Academic Mission
- Protect faculty and librarian expertise and intellectual property
- Uphold teacher-scholar model in guiding Miami’s educational mission
- Improve support for diversity, equity, and inclusion
Building a Strong, Member-Led Union
- Seek inclusive input and engagement across the university
- Mobilize participation by faculty and librarians
- Build broad membership as one union for power and leverage
